Tax Returns Receiving Earned Income Tax Credits

Select a Zip Code
Measurement Period: 2012
This indicator shows the percentage of tax returns receiving an earned income tax credit.

Why is this important?

The earned income tax credit (EITC) is a refundable tax credit for low- and moderate-income working families that rewards work and alleviates poverty. Approximately 15 to 25% of households eligible for the credit do not receive it, leaving billions of tax credit dollars unclaimed. To maximize this benefit for the population, it is important to increase awareness of the credit and assistance with filing the relevant tax forms.
